Our standard

This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG 2.2 AA is the benchmark the Australian Human Rights Commission refers to under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, and the basis of the New Zealand Government Web Accessibility Standard.

What we have done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
  • Text and buttons meet WCAG colour contrast ratios, and every image has a text alternative.
  • Headings, landmarks, form labels and error messages are marked up so screen readers can announce them.
  • Animations respect your device's "reduce motion" setting, and the hero video never plays with sound.
  • Pages reflow on small screens and when zoomed to 400%, without sideways scrolling.

Accessibility options on this site

Select the round accessibility button at the bottom left of any page to:

  • increase text size up to 200%
  • switch to high contrast
  • use a plainer, more readable font
  • increase line, letter and word spacing
  • underline every link
  • stop all animations, carousels and video

Your choices are remembered on this device. These options add to, and do not replace, the settings in your browser and operating system.

Known limitations

  • Some PDF documents, such as policies supplied on request, may not be fully accessible. Ask us and we will provide the content in another format.
  • The embedded Google Map on the contact page is provided by Google. The address is also written out in full on the same page.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on this site does not work for you, or you need information in another format, contact us and we will respond within five business days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Australian Human Rights Commission.
